En tant qu’artiste, j’aimerais montrer ce qui ne se voit pas, toutes ces couches successives de la mise en œuvre du tableau qui donnent la profondeur à la peinture, tous ces infra-minces dont parlait Marcel Duchamp. J’aimerais, décomposer ces strates à la manière d’un parcours déambulatoire en partant du plant. Du végétal ramassé dans la nature – ou bien récolté dans certains recueils (Karl Blossfeldt) – qu’on retrouve dans mes photographies, ou s’inscrivant sur la toile marouflée – un support papier fait de plans d’architecture industrielle découverts, tel un trésor, dans l’immeuble de mon ancien atelier.

Un parcours déambulatoire à travers les métamorphoses du « plant » qui finit exposé sur la toile – le « plan » – non plus comme simple surface plane, mais où se révèle par l’usage du monotype et de ses accidents indispensables, l’épaisseur d’une dimension symbolique et spirituelle. Toutes ces nourritures, ce terreau qui constituent les étapes de mon travail pictural.

Depuis 18 ans la galerie municipale Julio Gonzalez accueille le Prix Antoine Marin, rendez-vous incontournable dans le paysage de l’art contemporain français. Chaque année douze artistes de renommée nationale ou internationale parrainent douze jeunes plasticiens âgés de moins de 40 ans. A l’issue de la concertation des membres du jury, trois prix sont remis aux jeunes artistes. Le prix Antoine Marin, c’est la volonté affichée de montrer la jeune création, de l’aider à se développer, de créer des rencontres et de favoriser de belles aventures artistiques.
